NHS 75
Paying tribute to the NHS in its 75th birthday year, particularly to its incredible staff and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
At Pride in London, NHS England Chief Delivery Officer Steve Russell joined Adele Roberts on stage at Trafalgar Square to mark the NHS’s 75th birthday and celebrate Pride. Addressing the crowd, Adele said: “We are here to celebrate an organisation that to me is the heartbeat of the UK. They have been helping us for 75 years. They’ve been there for us since our first breath. They’re there for us in our times of need and they serve our country with passion and pride. They’ve also helped save my life and helped me kick cancer’s butt! They are the incredible NHS!”
Much loved British artist, illustrator and author Charlie Mackesy created a special illustration paying tribute to the hard work and dedication of NHS staff and volunteers over the past 75 years. Charlie said, “Happy 75th Birthday to the NHS. This illustration is for all of the NHS staff and volunteers who are brave and amazing... and do so much for us every day. There is a print of the illustration which you can buy if you’d like one - all of the profits will be going to NHS Charities Together, who support the NHS workforce and improve care for everyone in the UK.” To purchase a copy of the illustration, please visit Charlie’s website for more information: https://shop.charliemackesy.com/
An incredible new film has also been created, paying tribute to the NHS on its 75th birthday. The film features a number of sporting legends who share their personal stories of thanks to the NHS, and of how the NHS has supported them throughout their lives and careers.
